By now, you should be close to finished with your group novel...if you haven't finished it already. What connections can you make between your novel andBeowulf? Consider and discuss story lines, characterization, themes, etc. You need only respond to me, but you must do so in at least 100 words.

My group is reading Anna dressed in blood. In the 1st forty pages of the book the main character directly compares himself to Grendel in Beowulf by saying "I am Grendel" If that isn't a connection I don't know what is. However I think that the Obeahman is much more comparable to Grendel than Cas. As his actions make me think of Grendel, and Grendel and Obeahman are bolth antagonist in their respective stories.

In my book the Dust Lands Blood Red Road it is similar to Beowulf in the fact that the protagonist in both books are given the aura of super hero. It also illustrates that revenge often ends in more blood stains then blood gains. While the book I am reading is geared more for teenagers then adults it still has a story line that can reveal more about the human spirit and the generous gift of story telling which leaves many a reader entranced upon devouring this story.

I am reading Anna Dressed in Blood. This book does tie in with the story line of Beowulf. I personally think that Cas reminds me of Beowulf, and Grendel. Cas is obviously the main character of the story and is on a mission to kill Anna. He also has been on many missions before, and seems to know what he is doing. I get the vibe that he has kind of an ego about the fact that he can kill ghosts. This reminded me of Beowulf due to the fact that he also talked highly of himself, and was on a mission to kill Grendel. The character ideals just seemed similar. However I also think that Cas could be compared to Grendel in the fact that he is the one killing multiple ghosts. I think it could go either way.

my group is reading the book unwind. in this book the first 150 pages are of just the three main charectors and how they escape also on what they do after they escape. in the second half of the book they meet up with a new group of kids. in this new group there is a guy named roland and to me this guy resembles grendel because he is the big guy that kinda manipulates and uses everybody. the main charector conner reminds me of beowulf because he is portrayed as the hero. in the end conner ends up defearing roland just like how beowulf defeats grendel.

My group is reading the novel Legend. In the first section of the book you'll see that the protagonist named Day comes from a very struggling lifestyle but he does do something's that I could see beowulf doing. Day is there to help the people and so is Beowulf, I see a selfless attitude between the two characters. There is also the republic and a man named Thomas who is quite the antagonist. His aggressive attitude and the fact that he murdered two innocent people kind of put's him in Grendals shoes. Then there's commander Jameson who ordered the deaths of those two people and the captue of Day which puts her in the place of Grendal's mother.

The book my group is reading is called Legend. The connection I made from the characters from my book and Beowulf would have to be Grendel and Thomas similar. Thomas is a character in my book that is very evil, just like Grendel, who does some very evil things during the book. Another character connection I would make between Legend and Beowulf, would be June and Beowulf himself. The reason I would make the connection of these two, is because they both are very helpful and are heroes to some people throughout the book. June is a hero for many things during this book.

My group is all doing Anna Dressed in Blood, and may I just say I have never been so into a book before. I defiantly see a connection with Grendel and Cas. Cas is someone, who in my opinion, knows what he's doing and for the most part he is pretty confidant in himself. I think they can both put on a role as that. They are both pretty keep to themselves type, but know when they should talk. I'm pretty sure it mentioned a Beowulf connection at the beginning of the book too.

My group is reading the novel, The Legend, by Marie Lu. I see similarities between Day and Beowulf. Both fight against seemingly impossible battles, Day against the Republic and Beowulf against the evil monster, Grendel. While some might compare June to Grendel, I feel Thomas is much more evil by nature than June. June's revenge and trust in the Republic cause her to trust the Republic initially - until she begins to analyze with her head, not her heart. Day and Beowulf both strive to do what is best for the overall good of their country, sacrificing along the way. Day loses most of his family, while Beowulf loses his own life battling the dragon.
