Pairing classic literature with contemporary, having some choice in the novels you read, and discussing books in literature circles are new to you this year in College Bound English. Have you enjoyed your experiences this year? Why or why not? Do you like to read new things this way, or do you prefer when everyone in class reads the same thing together? Is there anything you would have liked to have seen done differently? Which novel did you enjoy the most? Why? Respond with at least 100 words, answering every part of the prompt. You need only respond to me.

I have in fact enjoyed the small group discussions a lot. I think we got a better discussion with a small group than we could have as a class. Plus we all choose the same book so there was a shared interest. I like the small groups a lot. I wish we could have read more books. My favorite part was doing the discussions and seeing my classmates viewpoints and how the differ from one another.

Reading a new novel in a literature circle has been an awesome adventure and I have enjoyed it immensely. It gives me new perspectives to how the author wants his or her story to come across. Sharing this episode of life with new people has been a blast and something I recommend to everyone. I enjoyed Inferno by Dan Brown because of his use of literary imagery really brought the picture to life. Some thing I would have done differently would have been give more of a job to the text connector more structured so thererfore there would have been more everyday tie ins.

I have very much enjoyed my experiences this year, I like it when the teacher gives us an option to pick what we read. That way we can pick something we'll actually enjoy. I like the idea of everyone reading different books, it makes it so we have less spoilers in class and you can also see other books and get opinions on them has well. If i wish we could've done one thing differently is that i wish we could have chosen from more up to date books, it'd be cool to read books that have just came out, maybe even one the teacher hasn't read yet, that'd be interesting. I am enjoying "the things they carried" so much. It is incredibly interesting and i can hardly put it down.

I like reading books in small groups rather than as a whole class. I feel like more gets done because we get to choose how many pages to read and it's a smaller group so it's easier to get things done. I like having the job sheets because you know when someone has read the book or if they just look up a summary on the internet. I think I liked the first job sheets better because some books I can't tell what the setting exactly is and on the other job sheets I did the questions and so I got to pick what we were talking about. My favorite novel either would have to be Anna Dressed in Blood or A Girl of Nightmares. I could really get into those books and couldn't put it down. So far I'm reading The Bean Trees and it's kind of hard for me to get into it. It's a little slow for me and it seems to jump around every other chapter.

Yes, mostly because I get to read books I either haven't heard of before or that I've been wanting to read for a while and haven't had the time for. I don't mind it this why. At least this why, everyone has to read and not just a curtain number of people and then have them answer questions because they are the only ones that read. I liked Inferno best because it kept you in suspense from page one. It didn't have good and then bad parts, just good because it kept you thinking and wondering if a big plot twist was gonna happen. That and it made you get creative with your own ideas.

I have enjoyed this class this year because we get to do things independently. I would choose reading new things this way rather than the whole class reading the same thing any day! When the whole class has to read a book together, there are going to be a handful of people that don't like it because we all have different interests. Letting us choose which one we think we'll like makes it more enjoyable and I wouldn't have it any other way. My favorite novel I've read so far is Something Like Normal. Since it was written in first person perspective it made the war and things soldiers go through after the war very real. It showed how great period can be, but also how evil and cruel the world is.

I am on the fence with this. I really quite enjoy having the option to pick the book I read. However, I love the opinions and discussions we can have as a class. Then, on the other side, I really enjoy the small discussions we have as small groups. There's many things on many sides I could pick between. As far as the rest of the year goes, I have enjoyed it. My senior year has brought me many things I never thought I would have. I have grown closer with my good friends and applied to college. I'm looking forward for what the rest of the year has to hold. As far as my favorite book? Dante's Inferno, Hands down.

School this year has been much more enjoyable for me in almost every aspect. Whether that is because of the changes I‘ve made, or the difference in being a senior, I’m not certain. Senior year has changed everyone in some small way, and it’s rather nice to be a part of it. I like having options when choosing the books I read. It allows me to have some say in the decision, and gets me to see new books that I might not have read otherwise. So far this year, my favorite contemporary novel has been Anna Dressed in Blood. I loved the dark twist on a classic romance. I was slightly worried that it would be cheesy and annoying, but was pleasantly surprised with what I found.

I really like being able to read the book you want and discuss it with other people that are reading the same one. To be honest having discussion dates actually motivates me to read the books. Not that I don't like any of the books I read, reading just isn't my thing. The group discussions are more fun than the whole class reading the same book! Discussions also help me understand the books better. If I have any questions or confusions I can just ask my group and my quesyions usually get answered. All the books that I've read so far this year have been really good! I'm not done with The Secret Life of Bees, but I know this one will be my favorite already! I really enjoyed the movie, so I am positive that I will love the book!

I have enjoyed my experiences this year . For some reason I am starting to learn more than I have before . I love the idea of small groups because you will have people who actually likes the book instead of people who doesnt care for it . My favorite novel was Unwind . Because the author of that book is my favorite author . I've read a few of his books and i enjoyed every one i have read .

I personally love the idea of small group reading. I am able to focus, and pay way more attention to what the book is talking about because I am doing to reading. I have also gotten more "into" the books that we have read so far. I personally would rather read in a small group than with the whole class. I think that the job sheets are a great way to really focus on what the book is talking about, and a good way to understand the perspective of the other people in your group. The book I have enjoyed most has got to be Dan Browns Inferno. That book was full of twists, and imagery. I would highly recommend this book. I also really liked my group for this book, because they were just as interested as I was. That is another cool thing about small groups is that since you get to pick your book, you are more likely to enjoy what you are reading.

I like the way we read in small groups better. You get to chose the type of book you'd like to read, and you're not stuck reading a book you wouldn't enjoy. I really liked the book unwind, because it is the type of action book I enjoy. And it put a real vision on what it could be like far in the future. I don't like how I got stuck with a different book than I wanted this time though. I got my second choice instead of my first, and this is a very boring book.
