By now, you should be close to finished with your group novel...if you haven't finished it already. What connections can you make between your novel andBeowulf? Consider and discuss story lines, characterization, themes, etc. You need only respond to me, but you must do so in at least 100 words.

There's antagonist and protagonist in the story as well as action and adventure going on, In Beowulf there was fights to see who was more powerful and stronger and worth more, and in the book I read, unwound there is many things that take place like when and at what part the person finds out they are going to be unwound, when the crash happens on the highway and the unwinds all escape and run away whether they want to or not when the kids go into town to try to get food and clothes and Risa pulls everything off getting the close and other items and then Connor messes it up by seeing the storked baby on the porch and pretending it was his and when the boy goes into the pawn shop and the pawnman is confused because this boys tells the truth the whole time and then walks away with $500 and he feels like he was just tricked. These books could have a lot of connections and you could compare them based on the different situations that have occurred in the two stories.

In my novel, Unwind, there are quite a few similarities between this story and Beowulf. There's the good guys and the bad guys. The admiral in the story is closely related to Beowulf because he's trying to save these kids from being unwound like Beowulf was trying to save his community. They're trying to do the right thing by saving others. Roland and the juvey cops are the bad guys in the story. They're trying to ruin everything Connor and Risa have worked towards. Roland is on a power trip like Grendel was and is trying to be above everyone when he has no business being the leader. There are many more connections but those are a couple that really stand out to me in comparison to Beowulf.

Although they may seem quite different at first, the protagonist in "Beowulf" and "Blood Red Road" share many similarities. Both embark on a quest and travel far from their homes. Both wish to save those who are helpless: for Beowulf, it is the villagers, for Saba it is her brother Lugh. Saba and Beowulf also have several shared personality traits. These heroes are both full of pride. They prefer to take on their obstacles alone when possible. Beowulf even rejects using weapons. They are also both powerful fighters. Beowulf has the strength of many men, given to him by God. Saba draws her strength from the 'red hot', a killer survival instinct that kicks in when she is in mortal danger.

My group is currently reading Dust Lands, which I finished this past week. I have seen many ties to Beowulf within this book. First of all, Saba is very much like Beowulf. They both go after the things who are terrorizing their world. Saba goes after the Tonton because they take her brother, and she honestly does not care what the costs are if she fails, all she wants is her brother back. Beowulf goes to fight Grendel because he is terrorizing the Mead Hall, and he also does not care what the cost is and what he needs to do to be successful. They also are both very strong willed and believe they can do anything as long as something does not get into their way. Both of the monsters in the book, Dust Lands include the Tonton and also King Pinche, Beowulf includes Grendel and his mother. They are all crazy monsters who do not care about anything but themselves and the power they have over everyone. I believe a theme for both stories could be to do whatever it takes to protect the people you care about it.

In unwind I can make a few similarities to beowulf. There is the good vs the bad like in almost all storys. In Unwind the good are the main people connor risa and lev. The bad are the ones who want them unwound and roland for basicly wanting connor died. another connection I made was beowulf and the admrial for just trying to good for others.

The book I read, Unwind, very much alike Beowulf. The main characters both seem to have this feeling of wanting a victory, however there is one thing or another keeping them from that triumph, in my book it is the harvest camps, in Beowulf it is Grendel and his mother. Although they can be compared, there is also major differences in the plots such as multiple protagonists in Unwind and only one protagonist in Beowulf, himself. The themes are the same, though. A strong connection in both is text-to-world in which they both can be related to reality very similarly.

In the novel Blood Red Road there are some similarities to Beowulf like, Saba is looking to save her brother Lugh that was taken by the Tonton, and Beowulf is looking to save the villagers in his village from Grendel. Both Saba and Beowulf are very powerful in their own ways such as Saba has her “red hot” that she uses when her life feels threatened, and Beowulf has the strength of many men that was given to him by God. Both Saba and Beowulf like to take things on their own and not with a group of people, they are also full with pride because both Saba and Beowulf feel like they can defeat anything that comes in their way.

In the book I read, Unwind, There are good characters and bad characters just like in Beowulf. The admiral in this book is like Beowulf, He helps out this kids and keeps them in a safe house. He is the good guy just like Beowulf. Then there is Roland and the juvey cops. They are the ones that are trying to get Connor and Risa caught and go to their unwind. Roland is the one fighting for power just like Grendel was trying to gain power

Connecting my groups novel, blood red road, to beowulf wasn't something that I had even considered before reading this prompt. Now I've noticed a lot of similarities between the protagonist of the book and Beowulf. They are both extremely strong characters. Physically, they can beat out almost anyone that comes across their path. They're also both very strong in will. Beowulf was determined to slay the monsters to save everyone and Saba is just as determined to rescue her brother Lugh. I think that the main difference between the two characters though is that Beowulf was partly saving everyone just to gain fame, but Saba's only concern is getting her brother back.

The book my group is reading is Unwind. This book has many similarities with Beowulf. The characters relate to each other regarding protagonists and antagonists. Connor, Risa and all the other unwinds come together to try and fight for their lives. Towards the end of the book, they come across the Admiral who is seemingly comparable to Beowulf as they both try to defend their community and population. Roland in Unwind and Grendel from Beowulf are similar because they can both be looked at as the antagonists as they try to gain power above everyone else by harming others. In Beowulf, it talks about fate and how it must unwind after the death of someone, specifically Beowulf himself. This reminded me of Unwind as kids, who are being unwound, are fighting for their lives and trying to escape death.

The connection I made in "Anna Dressed In Blood" and Beowulf is that the main character in both fight monsters. They both want to keep everyone safe so they kill monsters.

I am currently reading Dust Lands. I have not finished the book yet but I have one fourth left. There are many connections between Dust Lands and Beowulf. Saba and Beowulf are very similar. Saba has to go out and fight the Tonton and Beowulf has to fight Grendel. Saba and Beowulf are both strong individuals and have to fight for their rights in the world. Saba will do anything to get her brother back even if it will harm her. Beowulf put himself in harm’s way to fight Grendel.

In the begging of the "Blood red road" it seems like it is really different from "Beowulf", But as you read on you realize that they are really similar. In the novel the main character embarks on an adventure like Beowulf. Both of their adventures are very different though but they have something to prove. Beowulf wants to prove that he is stronger than Grendel, and in "Blood red road" the main character wants to prove that she is capable of trying to get her brother back.

In my book, Unwind, as in Beowulf the main character faces three obsticles or challanges. In Unwind, Connor's first challange is to escape to safety from the juvy-cops and from the law. This first challange would be considered equivalant to Grendel in Beowulf. The second challange Beowulf faces is Grendel's mothers. In Unwind, this would be Connor's conflict with Roland, while Connor does not necessarily beat Roland, in fact he got the crap beat out of him by Roland, Roland is still the one who got Unwound while Connor remains mostly intact. Connor's third challange is the harvest camp, Connor is not the one who blew up the chop shop, some Unwinds give him the credit for the explosion. This would be considered the same as the dragon that Beowulf faces. However in Beowulf, Beowulf does not survive his final challange, Connor does survive his, although a lit worse of than when he started.

My book, Anna Dressed in Blood, has many things in it that are similar to Beowulf. In my book, Anna is like Grendel. She is the definition of evil, and kills anything that comes into her house, without remorse. Or at least that's how it seems at first. Now that I'm deeper into the book I am starting to see there are two sides to Anna. She doesn't like to do what she does but she can't control it. Another thing in the book similar to Beowulf is the power Anna has. She seems unstoppable, just like Grendel is. Cas is a lot like Beowulf, he is trying to stop the evil.

My group is currently reading Dust Lands. The biggest connection I see between Beowulf and Dust Lands is the fact that Saba and Beowulf share many of the same characteristics. They are both very strong willed and believe they can accomplish anything they set their mind too, and once they start they don't give up until they accomplish their goal. They both will do whatever it takes to finish their task no matter what. They both are trying to protect. Saba is trying to find and protect her twin brother, Lugh, and Beowulf is fighting to protect the people of the village from Grendel.
