Pairing classic literature with contemporary, having some choice in the novels you read, and discussing books in literature circles are new to you this year in College Bound English. Have you enjoyed your experiences this year? Why or why not? Do you like to read new things this way, or do you prefer when everyone in class reads the same thing together? Is there anything you would have liked to have seen done differently? Which novel did you enjoy the most? Why? Respond with at least 100 words, answering every part of the prompt. You need only respond to me.

I have enjoyed this quite a bit. I don't usually read books, so I mean its kind of nice, I like the way its set up being only a few people in a group, because it allows everyone to be a part of the group. Sometimes when you have a lot going on its a bit of a struggle to keep up but the time frames for getting it done aren't too bad, the book I've enjoyed the most is definitely something like normal. All in all I've enjoyed the assignment.

So far i have liked how i am able to choose my own book instead of the teacher choosing one and it being hard to get into, therefore giving me an actual chance to read. I prefer that we read in this way because it allows me to acutually read and to learn in the small group discussion instead of having to try and do the whole class. So far the novel that i have like the most would be unwind, i like this book because it is about kids my age and it was a very easy book to get into therefore i actually conected with it.

I have enjoyed my experience this year in college bound english comparing contemporary novels to classic literature. I think it makes it a lot easier when we get into groups. The more we talk with each other that are reading the book, the more ideas are thrown out and it makes the book easier to understand. I have read some bad books and some good. My favorite was Anna Dressed in Blood. I had a good group and the book was really good. I think one thing that would make it easier is if the time to read the book was spread out. Especially when people are in season it is difficult to find enough time during a week to read sometimes up to 100 pages.

I definitely enjoyed the reading. I'm a big fan of classic literature but I know I wouldn't read it by my own choice, so reading it in school gives me an excuse. I loved Dan Browns "Inferno". I was completely intrigued by our Inferno lessons. Something about hell was just... fascinating? Even though that sounds a little creepy. I like that we have a selections and can choose the book that we want to read. I am a huge fan of reading but there is no way that I can find the motivation to get into a book that I'm not interested in, so the fact that I can choose what I want to read helps out a whole bunch.

I like it this way better than if the whole class was reading the same novel. This way everyone gets a choice to read a book that they enjoy, and not just one the teacher picks for everybody. I've never really liked group projects, but I don't mind the reading groups. I like talking with people who are reading the same book, and hearing their different opinions. The part that I don't enjoy about the novels is having to connect it to some of the other stories we have read in class together, so I am enjoying this time where we don't have to do that quite a bit better. My favorite novel that I have read was Anna Dressed in Blood, but I am really enjoying the Bean Trees as well.

I have enjoyed this way of reading because we got to pick which book we read and we weren't forced to read one we didn't want to read. I also like that we can discuss our books with a small group and not the whole class. You can also see who did there work and who didn't and give feedback about it. My favorite novel was Anna Dressed in Blood but I think i'm going to like Divergent better. I like these books because I haven't gotten to read a contemporary novel in class before.

I enjoy smaller literature circles much more than discussing books as a class. Often, in a large group setting people sit back and only a few actually discuss. In a smaller group, those who were too apathetic or shy to speak up are more able to express their opinions. I have liked all of the books I have read, but "The Bean Trees" is by far my favorite. It is more thought-provoking while the others were merely fun reads. Over all, the circle discussions have been enjoyable and have gone fairly well.

I have enjoyed the little reading circles we do. It seems more special this way. It's kind of annoying to know everyone is reading the same exact thing. Especially when some people don't like it and complain about that. So you get a choice. Also, the individual assignments give you a responsibility and makes it so you have to actually read the book, you can't hide behind others who have read it. I wouldn't change it at all. So far 'Unwind' has been my favorite. But so far I really like 'The Things They Carried'.

I have enjoyed the experiences in this class this year. I enjoy reading all the choices of books you have given us. I enjoyed having the discussions because it gets you into the book more. I also like having a time limit on how much we should have read because otherwise I would procrastinate. There really isn't anything I would of changed or done differently. I LOVED reading "Something Like Normal' it was really an amazing book, and my group members loved it just as much as me so the group discussions were actually really good!

So far i have liked that i have been able to choose my own books. Before if there was a war book for say, and i couldn't get into it is really hard for me to stay connected with the book so i like that we get to pick it. I almost wish that we could pick any book we wanted though. But i like having small groups and being able to go on our own and talk about it rather than talking about it as a class because it breaks down the book more. I liked Anna dressed in blood the most out of all the books we read so far this year because it kept me engaged in the book to keep reading it because of the suspense.

I have enjoyed reading books in the circle, and having something to discuss really makes me actually read it. Usually if I am forced to read a book and discuss it on my own, I generally won't do it. I do like that I get to pick what my job will be for the discussion takes some pressure off since we only have to do one thing for the group. It works because I usually don't read a book unless I actually want to. It's also nice that we get to read something different than everyone else. We have a choice on what we want to read and don't have to just read what the entire class reads. People have way too different styles to do that.

So far I have enjoyed the way we read books in this class. I like how you do have a couple different choices even though they are not always the best choices at first but I usually get into them. So far I think my favorite book has been Unwind just because it was easier to read and once you really got into the book it became super easy to read.

I do not like reading mainly because i can not read that fast, but so far the books that i have read this year have actually been really good. I love the fact that we have someone reading the book along with us it makes it so much easier to talk to people like if i don't understand a part of the story i know who to ask and i can ask multiple people. Also if there is a part that absolutely love i can share my feelings with my group. Plus i hate being told " hey read this book and then we will test you over it" because A i do not like being told what i have to do and B if i misinterpreted a part of the book then i miss that question on the test.

I've really enjoyed College Bound English. I have trouble finding new novels to read but this class has provided a list out of all the books I didn't make my first choice. I'm pretty much set because I can read all those later. I read Anna Dressed in Blood, Something Like Normal, and right now I'm reading The Bean Trees. I enjoyed Anna Dressed in Blood more than Something Like Normal, but so far I think The Bean Trees will probably be my favorite. I really enjoy how we're aren't all always reading the same book. In small groups it's easier to have a discussion you really feel like you can contribute to.

I have liked it so far this year. Discussing in groups keeps me accountable on my reading so I have actually read these books. I like it better this way than when everybody in the class reads the same book because its much more individualized. In the small group it is easier to participate in the discussion than with the whole house reading the same book. There is nothing that I would change with this. My favorite book so far that I have read is Unwind because the main character, Connor, is around my age and it is adventure novel.

I have liked College Bound English so far this year. I like the group discussions because then you can think of the novel the way that someone else sees it. And when you get to talking to someone who is reading a different novel they may bring up some events that you may like and inspire you to read the book they are reading. My favorite book so far this year is Anna Dressed in Blood. The only thing I wish is that we had a little more time to read because when you are in an activity after school it is hard to stay caught up and finish your book in three weeks.

i've been a fan of having choices to read our own books, and also being able to just be in smaller groups rather than the big group reading all together. When we are in smaller groups it gives us more chances to talk and better one on one. i wish we got more time to read our books because i am a slow reader and i need more time to read and since im in season it is even harder to find time.

I really do prefer this way of class reading as a class, and it makes it much more enjoyable. By choosing our own books and giving us small groups instead of the entire class reading the same thing, it makes it feel much more independent. There's not really anything that I would have done differently. My favorite novel so far has been Blood Red Road because it's the closest to something i'd have chosen in my free time.

I have enjoyed the experience of reading contemporary novels that go along with classic literature. I really liked being able to be in a small group and reading a easier book which I could understand better. Being able to read all different books and giving us a say in which book we read really made me like reading more. I prefer reading in smaller groups. I wouldn't have done anything differently. I really enjoyed the book Something Like Normal, because I liked the story line and it was a book that I didn't want to stop reading.

I really do enjoy the way that we've done it this you with how we pick a book and reading in a small group rather than the whole class. in the small groups i actually do read the book and enjoy the book. I never would even read it if the whole class was reading it. my favorite novel so far is the one i'm reading now The Road I've enjoyed it a lot so far and I'm very far into it.

I've enjoyed my time in College Bound English comparing contemporary novels and literature. My favorite book was Anna Dressed in Blood and I enjoyed my group. I like the idea of groups rather than the whole class reading the same book. It makes it better to have a conversation and encourages people to talk more, especially when you're all picking a book in your interest. It just makes it better when you have the choice to pick something of your interest and being paired with people of the same interest. There's not really anything I would do different.

I have enjoyed College Bound English this year. I tend to read nonfiction books that interest me so this has forced me to read different genres. I have also liked the mixture of classics and contemporary. I would much rather have a choice of what I am reading and discuss it with a smaller group rather than the entire class reading the same book. My favorite book I have read in class so far is "Something Like Normal". I also really liked our online forums. I feel this is helping to prepare us for college discussions and classes. Overall, I like this class and I would recommend it.

Reading in small groups rather than big lit circles has been very helpful not only for me but I think for the whole class. This way it's easier to talk about the book. This class has broadened my interest in book genres which I have enjoyed. I was a big fan of "Something Like Normal", "Unwind" and I am really enjoying "The Bean Trees". I do like how there is a lot of things going on throughout the class this way I never feel bored. This class has definitely been a good class and I would recommend it.

These types of projects are enjoyable because they actually give me a reason to pick up a book and read. You understand that students hate boring stories so you do actually give us a very good selection of books to choose from. I don't plan on reading any of these books again but I do like how interesting they have been the first time around. I think they're better left read once. However I found the book "Prodigy" very interesting, I could see me reading the rest of the books in the series but I don't know about twice.
