If you were absent and missed the McPherson College experience, describe the Old Man of Crete. Where does he show up inThe Inferno? What does he look like? What does he symbolize? Your post needs to be at least 100 words.
Reflect on Wednesday's experience at McPherson College. This is fairly typical of an English class in college. What did you think? What about the experience was positive, and what was negative? Explain. Your post needs to be at least 100 words, and you need only respond to me.

Being in a college class was interesting. I really enjoyed listening to the professor. She really knew what she was talking about and you could tell she loved teaching it. I had a hard time hearing her from where I was sitting and I feel like being in a big class like we were yesterday would be harder for me to learn, but overall it was an interesting experience and gave me an idea of what some of my classes will be like when I go to college next year in the fall.

I thought it was really different from what I'm used to and it was an eye opening experience. One of the positive experiences was when we got to discuss the book with everyone around us because it gave us a chance to meet some of the college students. One of the negative experiences was that I couldn't really hear what she was saying from where I was sitting so maybe in the future years she could talk a little louder or talk into a microphone.

I enjoyed listening to the professor and how she explained things in more detail about the book. I liked how she was very into her lecture by adding a dramatic effect to it. I think it was a positive experience because she enlightened us with more details and added more factual events and references to correspond with the story. The only bad thing was that it was almost a review, I did not feel like I learned a whole lot more about the main specifics of the story when she answered questions. But other than that I thought it was a positive experience that people could learn and earn more understanding about the story.

Going to the college class gave me a good idea of what i will be going into next year. I also got a good taste of what it would be like to be in a big class, with a 100 plus kids we had in there. I don't think i could handle being in a big class. i could not hear her very well. Other than that she looked like she enjoyed what she was talking about and she knew what she was talking about. it was a good experience to get to know what college will be like.

I think that it was a good experience at the college. I think that a real college class would have had more back and fourth with the teacher. It seemed more like a lecture than a class about a book. It did help me with the book and explain more about the book that i didnt under stand. so i feel like that did help a lot. I dont think that it was that great of a experience over all even though she did explain it a lot it was still very confusing.

I enjoyed going to the college class. I thought it would be more individual but with 150 plus kids I understand why it was just a big group discussion. I really enjoyed listening to the professor and I think she made the experience what it was. You could tell she knew so much and was great at conveying what she knew. I think it will be harder to learn in environments like that next year but overall I enjoyed it and am excited for college.

I made the mistake of sitting in the back so I missed a decent part of what she said. What I did hear was very descriptive and the instructor was lively. I think sitting in a class like that would be helpful as far as learning and understanding the book goes. You could sit there and take notes to better comprehend the actual reading. One thing besides not being able to hear that I really did not enjoy about the lecture was the fact that it was a lecture, meaning there wasn’t very much student-teacher interaction at all. That’s really not something that I’m used to.

I liked the size of the class, only like twenty five students and I also liked the way she taught. A positive of the whole experience is she explained some parts of the book better than sparknotes does or the italics in the book do. I also liked how she somewhat acted out some parts of the book or gave illustrations of what it might be like it that particular circle. A negative thing about the experience is that she talked very quitely. Even in the third row it was difficult to understand what she was saying at some points in the talk. Next time she might need a microphone or something so it is easier to hear her.

I really enjoyed the college visit yesterday mainly because it was a change in the schedule and the environment. I thought the set up on the stage was kind of funny. A positive about this was the experience to see what an actual college class is like. One of the major negatives was I could hardly hear her from where I was sitting. Other then not being able to hear the lady speak half of the time I thought it was a great experience showing us how a college class is conducted.

Being at the college yesterday to sit in on a college English class was quite an interesting experience. I honestly was expecting more college students to be there but then I guess it makes sense considering Mac college is a fairly small college. I have to be honest, I did find myself spacing off at times only because the knowledge in that lady's head is unbelievable and far beyond mine. However, being able to hear another's perspective and take on Dante's Inferno was helpful for me to be able to grasp the concept of the book better. It was difficult to hear her at times unfortunately. Overall, it was a good experience.

I enjoyed going to the college to listen to the professor about Dante's Inferno. She brought about some points that I never would have thought of on my own. Her knowledge about the book is so vast that it was crazy. It was eye opening to see how in-depth you go into some books while in college. The experience helped me understand Dante's Inferno a little better by sitting down and having other's views brought into the mix. At times I did zone out because her intelligence went way over my head at certain points in the discussion. A negative to the trip was I couldn't hear her all that well during times. But it was a good experience.

The old Man of Crete is introduced in dante's inferno in canto XIV when Virgil is explaining to Dante the river that runs through Hell. He's meant to symbolize different stages of mankind. He's a statue made of various metals that starts at the head made of gold, which is God's kingdom. As you move down the body of the Old man of Crete the metals get less and less valuable ending in a clay foot. All of his body except the golden head has cracks in it, and when the statue of the old man cries his tears fall down into the cracks and travel downward. The tears represent the suffering of humanity and ends at the bottom, as the river of Hell.

The thing that I enjoyed the most about going to a college class was that it gave you a good experience of what a college class could be like. You could really tell that the professor really knew what she was talking about because she explained the book in good details. By hearing her talk about Dante’s Inferno helped me understand the book a little bit better. The thing that I really didn't like was that since I sat in the back you really couldn't hear somethings she was saying. The other thing I didn't like it was that it was a big class and I don’t really like big classes.

The experience was quite interesting for me, as I have never been to a college class. I thought it was slightly boring to be brutally honest, however the professor seemed very awesome and also very knowing of alot of subjects! I did think that the class helped me start to understand the book better, because I have been struggling with that. I also thought that it was a fairly small class for a college, but I realized that McPherson is not very large, so it definitely makes sense that it would be smaller.

Besides the teacher being extremely quite and in the back the experience was very interesting. I've never really been in that kind of environment before. the discussion was very well rounded, and though although we got off topic sometimes it still seemed to stay on track. I also enjoyed how she didn't just talk the whole time, she left it to us to keep the conversation going and it seemed less like a boring class lecture and more like a discussion I would like to have on a regular basis. In the end I really enjoyed all of it and it gets me hyped for life beyond high school.

The experience was quite interesting for me. I thought that there would be more kids in the class. However, I thought it was a great experience to give us an idea of what a college class would be like. A positive would be that the professor answered some of the questions we had on the book and went into great detail about sections of the book. A negative would be that it was hard to hear her sometimes. I think that it would have been better if she would have had a microphone.
