I've never really been into poetry. It's never been something that I've just been able to pick up and read for fun. I feel like you could really engage into poetry if you really got invested in it. That being said it might be fun to learn more about poetry and maybe change my view of not really being into it. In the past week i've learned more about poetry than I probably ever have. Some of those vocabulary words are pretty tough. I'm excited to possibly learn more about poetry even though i've never been into it and never enjoyed it much.

I knew that poetry could be dark or lighthearted. I knew that it can express such a wide range of emotion. The thing that shocked me about the subject is the amount of complexity in writing poetry. There is so much detail in thought in the placing of words and structure. I don't hate reading poetry but it's not my favorite thing. I can tell you that i'm more than happy to read poems in class than to do complex grammar concepts.

My first impression of poetry was that it would be really hard to get used to.It compares to it being rhymes with some non-rhymes in the poem. It was also making songs and rap to them or something. I feel like it will be confusing to me at first but i will eventually get the hang of it. I feel like it will be a fun thing to learn about.

When we first started the poetry project I thought this was a very simple section. Whenever I hear poetry I think of rhymes and meanings hidden within words and lines. After yesterday’s class, I was shocked to see how much goes into making a poem. Iambs, trochees, dactyl, and caesura are just few of the new words we learned. I feel if we practice the material enough, we will have a much better understanding about poetry. As I progress in this section, I know I will appreciate poets and literary masters more than before. Who would have known that this much is hidden within just a few words of a Dr. Seuss rhyme.

I have never really had a negative perspective on poetry. I think it has a younique way of conveying a message in so many different ways which makes it interesting to me. The first few things that we have done with this have shown that there is more to poetry than I really thought. To see all of the different things that actually go into poetry like the different types of feet and how many different sentence structures, lengths, rhymes, and rhythms there are. I think that going forward with poetry will help me get an even better understanding of how it works and what all really goes into it. I look forward to it.

My first impressions of poetry weren’t negative impressions. I’ve never been crazy about poetry, but I’ve never minded it either. I never realized how much poetry is actually used in day to day things. Take music for example, lyrics of songs are poetry. Poetry can be fun, or deep. I find it fascinating how some poems have hidden messages in them. Whether it be letters, or rhyming. I never knew the different styles of poetry either, but learning them is interesting. I’m excited to go forward in poetry and learn more because I’m already fascinated by what I’ve learned this week. I’m also excited to see what poetry skills I have myself.

I never really liked poetry, but that is because I never really took the time to break it down to understand it. When you mentioned us starting this poetry assignment I was not thrilled. However, when we went to the library and began reading them I was more interested. Just like you said there are just some poems that ¨speak to you.¨ I don’t think I would ever want to write poetry, but it is interesting to read others. I think the poems I enjoy are the ones that have a hidden meaning.

Before actually learning about poetry, I liked it. I always thought it was fun to read. Now that we are learning about it, I find it very hard and confusing. Now I know that poetry isn't just about rhyming words. I'm not sure how I feel about going forward on poetry, but I'm going to try and understand it more.

My first thought when we started poetry was a negative one. Of course, everyone thinks of Shakespeare which to me means reading a bunch of non-rhyming poems that make no sense. I was not at all excited when we started this section because the only thing I like about poetry is writing little-kid poems or raps/songs. After we went over the sheet yesterday and look at some examples, I’m actually really excited to move forward. I enjoy what we have done with poetry so far. It makes sense to me and is pretty interesting. I look forward to studying poetry.

I'm really excited for poetry just because I write music so poetry is already a love of mine. Music is just poetry with a melody. I'm exited to get an in depth view into poetry and the different kind of structures or lack there of. I used to love to read poetry in either grade when we read Edgar Allen Poe and some of his dark stories. I love the metaphors hidden within poetry and how multiple people can pick out different metaphors. I feel like studying poetry will make me start to love it even more and help with my music.

I was never a big poetry fan. I enjoyed reading it and all, but it isn't always my forte. That said, I love certain poems that have meaning to me and that are important. It's been interesting to learn about all the technicalities behind the poems we read. I had no idea that William Shakespeare put so much thought and detail into his poems. I always assumed he found words that flowed together. I think that this will be interesting going forward, although it may be difficult to understand a lot of foreign concepts that come up in the unit.

My first impressions of poetry is that they are either very sad or they have some humor. Thats at least what I've seen so far. To me poetry is somewhat boring. No way to sugar coat it but its how I feel. In my opinion poetry is a way for someone to express their feelings. As of now my opinion hasn't changed. Now going forward I'm interested in seeing the different emotions that poetry has to offer.

My first impression of poetry is that it can be really difficult to understand what a poem can be saying and that I did not really like then because they can be hard to understand and that all poems have to rhyme, that said Poems can be very interesting such as the way they are set up or written. Going forward i'm excited to see the different styles of the poems and also what the author had written behind the poem and its meaning. I believe that this unit will be a good one for me to learn and I will be very intrigued.
