Pairing classic literature with contemporary, having some choice in the novels you read, and discussing books in literature circles are new to you this year in College Bound English. Have you enjoyed your experiences this year? Why or why not? Do you like to read new things this way, or do you prefer when everyone in class reads the same thing together? Is there anything you would have liked to have seen done differently? Which novel did you enjoy the most? Why? Respond with at least 100 words, answering every part of the prompt. You need only respond to me.

I personally don't like reading very much, so I really don't enjoy any of the books. I would prefer everybody in the classroom be reading the same book. It makes it easy for us as students to talk with each other and get a better idea of what the book is trying to get across. I don't think there is anything I would have liked to have seen done differently. I enjoyed Unwind the most because the book is back and forth between characters and can be a challenge to comprehend everything.

I like the way it's set up right now. Being in small groups makes your opinion more noticeable than if the entire class was discussing. I like reading, I just don't like trying to find a book that I would like, so it's cool to be given choices that you would recommend. Out of the books I've read from this class, Anna Dressed in Blood was my favorite, I didn't expect a lot of it and I was honestly difficult to put down after I started reading. There's a lot of free time in class, but we still get a lot done. It's more independent and I like that a lot more than other classes.

This year I have enjoyed my reading experience, because I have been shown certain books that I might of not come across. I do like the way we are doing it this year. I feel like people like certain books more then others so everyone getting a choice on what they read helps. There isn't really anything I would say you should of done differently, I honestly liked it. I like Anna Dressed in Blood the most, because it just sucked me in when I started to read it and I could image my own characters and those books where you can instantly come up with your own characters faces are usually the ones I like the most. The second book to the series is a little less interesting, but it's not bad.

I do not like reading very much. I'm much more of a visual learner, I like to be able to see the picture versus having to picture it my self. Some times I like the group readings and sometimes I would rather do a class reading. The groups are fun if you are with people who pull their weight and it keeps you more reliable on having to do your part. It is much easier to slack off in a class book because there are many more people who can fill you in if you slack. Group reads also hard because you are required to read a book in a short amount of time. I also feel that in a group, sometimes it is hard to do discussions because you only have 2-4 opinions, where in a large group you may have 24 different opinions which gives you more perspectives on the book.

I am not a strong reader it’s not something i enjoy to do on my free time. But, the way it is set up now is good. I like smaller groups it makes it less scary to talk about the book and have discussions. As well as being able to have a choice in what we read is really nice to have. There’s no need to change anything since we do both types of reading everyone gets what they want at least once. I’m enjoying the novel right now that we are reading it’s very interesting and keeps me entertained kind of.

It has been a very fun time doing these group projects. I really enjoy group projects and this was a nice spin on it. It also helped to understand the whole story because you had other people pointing out other things that they noticed. The only thing I don't like about these group readings is that it takes away from reading for fun through book talks. Something I personally enjoyed a lot in English last year. The other thing I’ve noticed is that it is hard for me to stay on top of reading through school projects so I enjoy books less.

I am one of those people that cannot stay focused while reading boring books. Or even books that start out boring so it is hard for me to get the motivation to keep reading when I'm not even paying attention. I like how we got to choose between a selection that you picked so we weren't forced to read a book we don't want to as a whole class or something, but It could have been easier maybe if as a class made a selection ourselves to choose from. Maybe that would help people get motivation to read something that they wanted to read in the first place.

Yes, I have enjoyed my experiences in College Bound English this year, although I think I may have enjoyed AP Lit even more. I have never really liked English because I think most of the teachers teach the rules instead of the creativity and meaning behind things which I got in your class. I like reading different things, so discussion is better, if you like the book you are more likely to to read/discuss it. I don't think there is really anything in particular that I would have done differently, maybe on one of the books that we could choose what we read, have one of the projects be individual. I understand we need to collaborate on some things but I also think we need to express our own ideas which is sometimes hard to do in group projects. I enjoyed Unwind the best, it was kind of sci-fi and set in the future which was really cool, I also grew to like how it was written in different perspectives and the foreshadowing wasn't obvious but kind of underlying, it was just good.

I really enjoyed the class this year and the things we read were pretty interesting. I don't usually like reading but i like some of the books we read this year because most of them were pretty interesting. If i could change anything in the class it would be to have an option to opt out of reading books. I think a lot of people don't like reading that much and it would be a cool alernative and maybe come up with a different assignment or something.

I liked having a choice of what I was going to read because some of the books that we might of had to read as a class I wouldn't be as interested in as the one that I would have picked. I also liked discussing in smaller groups because you get to talk more than you do if we all read the same book and discussed as a class. So far I have really liked the book Divergent because something is always happening so it keeps my attention throughout each chapter.
