A Thousand Splendid Suns was definitely one of the best books I have ever read. It was nearly impossible I put down, so I ended up finishing it in a day and a half. It really teaches you to be greatful for the life you have, and think about how many people would kill to have a life half as good as yours. It's taught me how important it is to get to know someone before you judge them, and I really love the way it's written and how throughout the whole story there's always a constant connection foreshadowing the story throughout the book. I can't wait to read more by Kahleed!

A Thousand Splendid Suns was hard to read, but in the best way possible. In addition to a bit of history that isn't dull to learn about. It also gives you a perspective on the way of life we have that you wouldn't otherwise think about. Although I had read the book once before, I got caught up in the world of Mariam and Laila again and ended up finishing the book within 3 days. It's by far the best book I've ever had to read for school.

A Thousand Splendid Suns was an amazing but really hard book to read. It was such an enthralling book and I found it incredibly hard to realize that this is a real life situation for many people in that area. It was so frustrating to have to read through all the torment that both of the girls had to endure at the hands of Rasheed. I will admit that I cried when Tariq was pronounced to be dead and so enraged when Rasheed's lie about Tariq was uncovered I had to put the book down. All in all this book put a lot of perspective in my life of what I have to be grateful for.

I really enjoyed A Thousand Splendid Suns. It provided a new and unique outlook on life that we often don’t get to experience in our culture. I found the book to be very easy to relate to even though I may not be experiencing the same things as the characters. I often found myself getting emotionally attached to the characters and situations. As I was pulled into the book, I would kinda forget that it was actually just a book and not really happening. I would have to calm myself down and remind myself not to get too angry at Rasheed. He’s a jerk.

A Thousand Splendid Suns was definitely an enjoyable book. In all the craziness of the musical and cheer I had to read it through an audiobook, but that was almost better for me because the speaker helped me understand some of the things that were happening better. It really made me more thankful for the things I have and realize that there are a lot of people in terrible situations that I know nothing about. Overwll it was a really good book to read and I'm glad it was assigned to us because it changed my perspective on things.

A Thousand Splendid Suns was an interesting book to read. Towards the beginning, I was surprised by some of the circumstances that the characters had to face, but as I kept reading the book, I began to think of multiple paths that the author could take with the stories. Eventually, I got to the point where I wasn't surprised by the "plot twists" that the author threw at us. Hosseini was very descriptive with his violence-filled scenes, which were sometimes hard to read. It was nice that Hosseini brought Jalil back towards the end with his actual feeling about Mariam. To be honest, I didn't expect a happy ending for Laila and Tariq, but I enjoyed the book overall.

I absolutely loved this book! I usually don't like the books that we are required to read but this one was like any book that I would check out on my own! It was excellent and I couldn't put it down! Overall it made me very upset at times and I definitely cried a lot. I'm a crier though so that wasn't surprising. I wish that Miriam could've had a happy ending but I also understood why she couldn't have one! I was so happy that Laila and Tariq got to be together. It kind of made up for Miriam having a crappy life. I wouldn't change anything!!

I enjoyed A Thousand Splendid Suns much more than I thought I would. I never read a book that seemed so real life but was in fact fiction. This book also greatly humbled me, and opened my eyes to how bad problems in other parts of the world are. Realizing how badly women were treated in that part of the world honestly made me sick. The book really made me realize how fortunate we are to live somewhere that doesn't suffer from the same issues.

I really liked A Thousand Splendid Suns. Some of the scenes made me see the injustice that some people see every day of their lives. I loved the geo-political feel of it and how politics effected day-to-day life for so many. However, I must say I liked Kite Runner far better. It was about the same time period, but I found it easier to relate to possibly because it was told from a boy’s point of view. Overall, both books by this author are a must-read and could honestly help with everyone’s understanding of what is and has been going on in Afghanistan.

The amount of emotions that TSS put me through is pretty much like watching Titanic. I ranged from being just pissed off to being on the verge of tears to being ecstatic and everything in between. I read the book within the first week of receiving it so its needless to say it was hard to put down. The way this book is written just captures you from the very first moments of Mariam's story and doesn't let you go until Laila and Tariq are far from Kabul together. Although this book made me very upset at many moments I don't think I would have changed anything. Overall an amazing book and really makes you think about how privileged your life is even in those times where you feel like the your world is crumbling down.

Thousand splendid suns was an Incredible book. I loved the character development and how I felt like I knew the ins and the outs of every character even the minor ones. I was never horrified by what happened in the book but there were some parts where I wish Mariam and Laila would have killed Rasheed a little sooner. It taught me about how war torn Kabul has been in the past during the taliban reign and all the wars faught here.

A Thousand Splendid Suns wasn't a bad book. It had a great plot line and the character development was very good. I however, had a very hard time trying to read this book. I just could not get into it at all. It did however make me think a bit of how we here in America have much more than we realize and that our life is a heck of a lot easier than those who live in the Middle East or else where. We take everything we have for granted here and in a place like Iran or Pakistan they have to fight daily to live.

Very interesting! Once the book hooked you, it was hard to put down. Lots of little plot twists and turns kept adding more and more into the story. The communist take over, followed by the lawlessness and eventually the Taliban also really added to the book. I, and like everyone else who's read this, felt bad for Mariam, but it wasn't really surprising after she killed Rasheed. The ending was a very happy sad one, which was ok... I think it was the closest thing to a happy ending we could've got. It's kinda hard to think of something to change because there's so much you could change to get a better ending. Keep Nana from hanging herself, have Jalil take Mariam inside, keep Lilias parents from dying, allow Lilia and Mariam to escape, keep the Taliban from occupying the city, stop Aziza from going to the orphanage... But if you changed these, it wouldn't have been such a great story.

Like many have said above, A Thousand Splendid Suns was very difficult to read a times. At times I was so pissed off I was red, other times I was smiling from a character's selflessness. Overall, the book reminded me once again how blessed I truly am to live in a country filled with freedom. I couldn't imagine living in a society where women have no freedom and in a sense are treated like property. It also taught me to not take "falling in love with someone" for granted, but also how sacred love really is and when I get there I won't take it likely.

I really liked A Thousand Splendid Suns over all! The book was a good read, however I found it very hard to read Part 1. I kept taking breaks from reading because I would get distracted. But once I got to Parts 2 and 3, I could not put the book down!! I really found it in interesting how Laila and Mariam “merge” during the book, I definitely did not see that coming. I really hated Rasheed and every time Laila stood up to him, I rooted for her. I loved the relationship between Tariq and Laila, but I wish they could have been together from the beginning and neither of them had to go through what they did. Also, when Mariam died, I balled my eyes out. It was just so selfless and it hurt because I was really hoping she would be able to live a wonderful life outside of her abusive marriage with Rasheed and being an “outcast” with her mom. BUT overall I loved this book, I would recommend this to just about anyone!

A Thousand Splendid Suns is one of the best books I have ever read. However, I didn't get terribly emotional with the book, but I did understand how the characters felt and why they reacted to the situations they went through. If I had the chance, I wouldn't change the book. I loved to history behind it, and the culture as well. I would highly recemend this book.

I found A Thousand Splendid Suns to be a great book, though it was pretty hard to read as well. It was interesting to watch the maturation of Mariam throughout the book, and it really affected me when she died. I honestly did want her to live out the rest of her life, but it was really meaningful knowing why she admitted to killing Rasheed. Speaking of that jerk, I hated him. He had to have been my least favorite character in the book. I also loved the relationship between Laila and Tariq, and I admire Laila's character. This book was fantastic, and I felt it hard to put it down, especially as I got further into the book. The historical significance is really interesting, and I would recommend the book.
